PRDMC Rocked!

I traveled to San Diego this week to represent my company, TeleDirect Call Centers, as a sponsor at this year's PRDMC. One thing I learned is that no matter how much I learn about marketing, there's always more to learn.

I enjoyed Penelope Burk's Fearless Fundraising parts 1 and 2. The whole concept that you have to give people what they need from their gift to you is part and parcel of the concept that nothing is truly free. People want to support charities, but they also want to know that their money has gone to a good cause, and is being used properly. Certainly if they can't know that with any certainty they may give again, or continue giving for a time, but at some point their trust could be fully violated and when that happens, is it even possible to get that back?

I made a lot new contacts, including DEI's CFO Stacy Stang and Jay Clayton who is been called the "pledge guru." People I am confident will help me to learn about public radio and how to help my clients and potential clients.

I'm certainly looking forward to going again. Fort Worth -- here we come!
